Are ATI drivers for linux ready yet?

Are the ati drivers ready for Linux? I guess i should be distro specific... maybe ubuntu or something that has alot of multimedia stuff to it. Mandrake doesnt have ntfs reading native to it... so i dont want that. Fedora isnt really for the multimedia freindly I read... so what do u guys suggest?

Obviously i need ati driver with glxgears support native and would like to be able to run xmms, mplayer, etc on it.... LMK thanks!

ATI drivers can be downloaded for linux from the ATI website. Closed source, though. ATI Radeon drivers are already included in Slackware. I know.

Are included in Suse too. On their website, you'll find drivers for 2.4.x kernels. For 2.6.x are still in development.
