architecture
hi there,
I haven't yet installed linux, and am considering what hardware to buy, and what distro to use.
I was wondering if anyone knew of a good tutorial, or article explaining the diferent architectures of pcs (i386, powerpc).
These things aren't usually denoted on the list of specs for pcs. I'm not even sure what my current pcs architecture is, so I've gotta get an understanding of this.
In the past I've generally used P3/4 or AMD desktops with whatever version of windows they had on them.
Also if you have any ace desktop pc suggestions that are around £300 that you know are linux friendly, can you possibly tell me? I know to avoid SATA drives now, and other nuggets of advice like that'd be great
Thanks tons in advance, these forums are helpful
Howard
