Apple EarPods' (wired) mic makes recording with background noise

Hello,
I've Dell Precision 5520 running Debian Bullseye.
The problem I'm currently facing is - my wired Apple EarPods' (like these) mic has some strange background noise (5s long audio sample), which literally sounds like the UH-1 helicopter in the distance.

I've already tried to plug them in another Linux PC, but still facing the same result, while my older iPad can make recordings without any problems.

Some articles online are saying that Apple is using a different wiring scheme (TRRS), but in that case, shouldn't I be able to record anything at all?

Any ideas/help are more than appreciated.

Welcome aboard the LQ boat!

If you experience the same issue on a Windows machine then it may be a propitiatory issue. If not then it could be a driver issue possibly.

Could be they are just picking up some elctronic interference from your hardware. Try to move the cable around, plug it into a different jack etc. Test with other microphones to be sure.
You can also add "microphone boost" in your mixer app; depending on your setup, distro and DE etc., that's via
Code:
alsamixer
or
Code:
pavucontrol
(or a similar pulseadio mixer)

edit:
apart from that, can you record voice normally?
Maybe Apple just uses software to eliminate low noise. You can do that on Linux, too.

Unfortunately, I need an adapter to do that. However, I was able to get my hands on an Android device. The background noise is still there, but it's much quieter.

Other microphones (1 internal & 1 external) are working perfectly fine.
