Anyone using the Intel i7 processor with Linux?

I have been looking at the Dell Studio XPS machine - i7-920, 6 GB RAM and a 500 GB drive and monitor for less than a grand. I am wondering if anyone has experience running Linux (Ubuntu perhaps) on this hardware? Tom's Hardware did a review of the i7 processors a while back. However, their Linux tests were run from a USB flash drive (how lame is that) and the benchmarks did not work (wonder why?).

The machine would be used for basic tasks under Ubuntu 8.04 and VMWare Workstation to run an XP VM for a few items I cannot run under Linux. From the specs on the machine it should do a little better than my old Pentium 4 :-)

Any input appreciated.

TIA,

Ken

It works fine in Linux. See related threads here
