anyone know where I could get an insanely cheap (old) PC? (in US)

Im in the US, and I wanted to know if there is anywhere I could get an insanely cheap PC, as long as it has at least a 2 gb HD. I already have a CD drive being unused, so I could install that myself... I sometimes spot stuff like this at second hand stores (goodwill, etc.) just wanted to know if there was anywhere else I could get something like this.

I know this is crazy, but I need a dev machine for myself, and I dont need GFX or anything, just a small machine with crappy specs and a cdrom drive to install linux. It doesnt even have to have any form of operating system on it... I can install something myself. I have quite a few linuxes, from full, to floppy, to live cd and DOS installations. Im only looking fo this becasue someone else is always using this PC and I never have access to it any more, and I have only $10.00 now. Id barely be able to get $50.00, but thats doable, in a few months, I guess.

thanks, and hope I can find something.

Try these things . . .

1) Put an ad in the paper, asking for used computer equpiment , stating your on a *very* limited budget. See who replies, chances are good you'll have a boatload.

2) Not sure about your local waste management station (dump), but the one I have nearby has a "Useful table". Essentially the dump has left a open space for ppl to put things that others might be able to use. I have heard of a lot of dumps doing this. Ya never know

Depending on where you live, go to your local Craigslist and then check out the "Free" category in the "For Sale" section. You would be amazed at the stuff people are trying to unload for no money. -- J.W.
