I am assuming the Nicrosoft ones will not work :p

Why are you assuming that? I think it's one of the strengths of GNU/Linux to make work the oddest items... Honestly, have you tried? I'd rather not use a M$ product, so I understand your reluctance, but if you want the functionality and have access to a device, there's no reason other than preoccupation not to...

Anyhow, I'm aware that you want to know about something that works - sorry for butting in, then.

Yes, most Microsoft wireless inputs does not work because of poor hardware design. For wireless inputs, I suggest an integrated model that combines a keyboard and a mouse. By having an all-in-one design there is only one device sending data out instead of two. Two devices can interfere with each other. An ADESSO WKB-4100UB is good integrated model that is both reliable and stable even in areas with a lot of interference. Logitech also makes good wireless input devices. I recommend find models that has a manual on-off switch, RF ID switch, and provides a status what it is doing. I recommend find models that uses standard size batteries instead of Li-ion batteries. You will eventually have to replace batteries, so it is nice to use standard size batteries.

I recommend using wireless input devices as a secondary and use wired input devices for primary. If you do not want to do this, you will eventually find out that wireless input devices are not always reliable and stable. Wired input devices are ALWAYS relaible and stable.
