antiX is perfect OS for ancient (2004) IBM ThinkPad G40 laptop

I tried MX Linux 19.2 on an old IBM ThinkPad G40 (RAM 2GB, CPU: P4 3GHz, PATA/IDE HDD 40GB). MX brought the ancient old laptop to its knees ... the old P4 CPU was in the red and struggling)... movies and youtube would freeze solid ... web rendering was like watching a crippled spider weave its web.

I replace MX with antiX 19.2 (32 bit of course) and no issues ... just like the good ole XP days. Web pages are rendered quickly and crisply. Like night and day. Plays DVDs (after libdvdcss2 install) with no problems or stuttering.

Thought a positive story where something actually worked out would be a good change of pace. Running about 390 MB RAM with forum page loaded.

There are a few members on LQ that almost always recommend it for older hardware.

Been using it since the demise of #! (Crunchbang Linux).......yep, it's one of a few distros I will regularly recommend.
