Yes, i know there are about 10000 posts on flickering monitors, but i just havent been able to fix mine.

My monitor is a Viewsonic E90 and im using Mandrake 9.0 and Nvidia GeForce 2

Most the other posts about flickering monitors i've read, tell you to:
1. Install the Nvidia Drivers
2. Correct the refresh rate

Which i've tried to do both and i couldnt.

The vertical refresh rate, according to my monitors meter, is set to 75 hz, which, according to the manual, should be fine. I would like to try a higher frequency, but dont know how, since in the config file the frequency is set as a range.
in some other post, they suggest using Colas Xfree Modeline Generator, but i dont know exactly how to use it, and im afraid to do anything, because
1. im afraid to burn my monitor
2. last time i edited the config file, i wasnt able to startx anymore and i had to reinstall linux

please help.
