Question Analog use for the HVR-1110 DVB-T/Hybrid

Hello,
I am attempting to Configure the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR1110 DVB-T/Hybrid PCI card (this is the triangular shaped one)
I am not interested in the DVB-T part for now, I'm just interested in the analog bit for now. I hope some one figured this out before, this is eating away a lot of my time.

Problem:
  1. |Done| I am unable to "cat /dev/video01 > test.mpg" & Play it with "mplayer test.mpg"
  2. |Done| I get a blue screen in TVtime (No such file or directory, Cannot open capture device /dev/video0 Why did i not see this before i typed all this text? $"tvtime -d /dev/video1"
  3. HowTo edit channels there are a lot of channels with no signal
  4. No Sound, Problem googled back to mid 2008 is this still an issue? Is this a motherboard chip set issue? There is a Realtek ALC889A on this board instead of the ALC883
Problem:
  1. |Done|
  2. |Done|
  3. What Program to use for editing channels? What folder/path to go to TVtime & mythTV?
  4. Is there a solution for the no-audio problem for the HVR-1110 or do i need to figure out "sox" with resulting audio delay?
I am using the following setup:
- Ubuntu 9.04 $"lsb.release -a"
- CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz (Family: 6, Model: 23, Stepping: 10) terminal ouput mplayer
- Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2H

Update:
  1. I still do not have any sound in mythTV or TVtime
  2. TVtime still has to many channels without picture (provider does not broadcasting on these channels)
Did the following and made some progression:

used following websites:
http://en.opensuse.org/Hauppauge_HVR-1110_TV-DVB_card
http://seilo.geekyogre.com/2009/04/h...-ubuntujaunty/
http://rjlsoc.blogspot.com/2006/08/f...-on-linux.html
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Netherlands

Made sure the following packages are present:
- build-essential
- mercurial
- linux-headers-`uname -r`
- dvb-utils

dmesg showed the drivers were loaded.
But i installed the drivers via an alternative way (not via synaptic package manager)
Download v4l-dvb drivers @ http://linuxtv.org/hg/v4l-dvb Go to the v4l-dvb folder of the package
or: $"cd /opt" then $"sudo hg clone http://linuxtv.org/hg/v4l-dvb then $"cd /v4l-dvb"
$"sudo make"
$"sudo install"

Started mplayer command in terminal:
mplayer -tv driver=v4l2:norm=PAL:alsa:adevice=hw.1:\audiorate=16000:immediatemode=0:forceaudio:amode=1 tv:// And let there be sound yes it works, didn't try this before re-installing the drivers so i don't have a reference.

Solved the channel problem in mythtv i was experiencing. If your are dutch this is what you need: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Netherlands

Playing a mp3 with the MythTV music tool works fine, but still no sound when watching live TV. Checked the frontend, setup, general configuration (alsa=default].
Used Questions and Answers: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Configuring_Digital_Sound
Checked if the PCM sound was not muted, He i am getting desperate here

Got Audio working under mythTV. There are so many customization options i am getting confused.
  • On the backend changed the capture card config to: /dev/dsp1 New i got a high pitch sound.
  • at the frontend i went to recording profiles, software-encoders, livetv and switched codec to Uncompressed

Found the following link with more info: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=811034
