Question Alternative to Gumstix, needs to run Ubuntu, preferably.

Hi, I'm not quite sure whether this is the right board.

I've looked at other posts on numerous forums but none seem to have the answer.

My question is, "is there a cheap alternative to Gumstix?"

It needs to have;
Bluetooth
Wifi or Ethernet capability/port
miniUSB port
0.55 mm audio port (Headphones )
HDMI port

Battery powered?

I'll buy an LCD separately. (OR E-Ink display)

I'm not sure if anything like this exists, but I'm open to suggestions. (Cheap = under £100, give or take £30)
BTW, I don't mind buying components separately.

Thanks,
linuxuser8329

Frankly, Gumstix already are the cheap alternative to most industrial embedded computers. They're extremely cheap for what you get and their capabilities, you would be very hard pressed to find a better value out there. There are some alternatives (Chumby Hacker Board, BeagleBoard) but they will be either more expensive, less capable, or considerably larger (and in some cases, they will be all of these).

The only serious alternative I could think of would be the Raspberry Pi, but it isn't released yet.

Take a look at the $25 Raspberry Pi ($35 with 256MB RAM and an Ethernet port). It has everything but Bluetooth, but it does have USB and runs Debian, so you could always add a $5 adapter.

Update: running Quake III at 1080p

Thanks, Great idea

I've had a look at their website and it looks great. Do you think that I could install Ubuntu on it. (I'm a bit of a Ubuntu fan! )

Thanks,

They've gotten Ubuntu 9.04 running on it. Remember, Ubuntu is Debian-based, so there's not a lot of difference.
