Hi i justs upgraded from 2.4 i386 to the 2.6 i686 smp kernel. Now sound is not working. Alsaconf only recognizes onboard sound, intel. it does no tdetect my sound blaster live (emu10k
edit: looking throguht synaptics, and there is no alsa modules for 2.6, only 2.4 i686-smp
changin gto oss in k control center doesn't work either.
alsaconf doesn't work for alot of sound hardware. You may end up having to set it up manually. I had to in my case. Refer to alsa project's homepage for details on how to.
Since you didn't get an error message when you ran modprobe for it, try checking the levels with alsamixer right after. Since it didn't give any message when you modprobed, that is generally a sign that it loaded them ok. It might have just been a matter of unmuting.
Ill try that when I can. The other day my video card went bad and My dad had a spare one. And I ran dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 and set the options but it gives an error message. i know nothing about it so i will wait until my dad get shome and ask him, since it may be a while untill i get a new one since i am not really looking at them ans I am supposed to. any suggestions?
