Hello! I've been trying to get my jack soundserver working for quite a while. Now I've tracked the problem down to being ALSA. So, I'm using SUSE Pro 9.2 and my soundcard is the builtin Nforce3.

So, some different things that occours:

* When I use ALSA as output in XMMS, I get sparkling sounds in the background. When I use OSS all is good.
* When I use hydrogen in ALSA mode it just sparkles in the speakers, no real sound at all.
* I try to use alsaconfig, it runs fine but changes nothing.

I've discovered that my built-in card isn't even configured in yast, so I try to do that. And I get: "Couldn't load snd-intel8x0 module."

So, any help would be greatly appreciated as I really wanna use the jackserver and all the sequencers!

most sound deamons load several ALSA options you maybe dont want to see on. As example, on my system KDE was turning on "3d surround" and "sigmatel 4 speaker", which was resulting in an horrible sound quality.
I dont know what sound deamon you are using but you might want to try to turn off all optionnal options... that might help.
