alsa sound
I've got an onboard ad1980 chip sound card and trying to get it to work in debian using alsa drivers. I downloaded the driver using apt-get and instlled everything using the default. Opened XMMS and played song, only no sound. the sound volume levels are at max, and the program thinks there is a card there. what can i do to get this working.

by default the pcm + master channels are muted. when you
run alsamixer; be sure to unmute them.
