Alsa

I need some help with ALSA. I installed linux on my PC. It's an Emachine W3107 which features all Nvidia architecture. The card works and so forth. My only problem is that ALSA does not recognize my sound card because it might not be a PNP device. I read the FAQ on ALSA and it says to force the install file to search for non-PnP devices. I don't know exactly where to look for this install file to edit or change and force ALSA to look for non-PnP devices. I've already downloaded the driver from Nvidia and see it on the library directories. Under KDE and GNOME, sound works through OSS. I would like to have better sound though. If there is another sound server that would be better, please let me know too. JF

Run 'alsaconf' in a terminal and, as part of the process, it will give you the option to search for a non-pnp sound device. If it finds one and configures it, run 'aslactl store' at the end to 'fix' the setting.
