alcatel usb modem timeout (suse 8.2)

i have suse 8.2
with an alcatel 330 usb modem

when i dial out after a while 30-60seconds it fails with the message

"LCP: timeout sending Config-Requestes"

anyone know why?

Which tutorial are you using?
I think i may also be having that same problem :S
So far i haven't solved it.

well i found out that my isp uses pppoa
which i chose from the menu, when i modprobe pppoa i get not found but pppoe works.

i used the tutorial on suse site, the one with a few steps.
