Advice for Mobo/CPU Upgrade Needed

Hi all,

I have been running on a 32-bit system for a long time and I am looking for a 64-bit upgrade. Currently, I am looking at several motherboard/CPU solutions and I am not sure which one to buy. Any help with reviews or comments is appreciated.

The motherboards I've chosen are such that have both PCIe and AGP because currently I am not looking to upgrade a video card too.

ASRock 939 Dual-SATA2 (I've heard that there are some problems with the internal NIC detection in Linux, does not really matter since I have a PCI NIC)

Biostar TFORCE4 U (w/ XGP slot)

Biostar NF4ST-A9 (w/ XGP slot)

Has anyone used them? Pros? Cons? Do you think it would be a problem running SuSE 10 on those? ASRock has a ULi chipset and I haven't installed any Linux on a mobo with such a chipset. Any problems?

Thanks,

a.

I'd expect SuSE to run fine. I haven't heard of an 'XGP' slot before - I'd make sure I had confirmation that your graphics card is properly supported in this XPG slot before buying. I don't like the expression "unique engineering solution of adding limited AGP graphics card support ..." very much.

yep

I did not like that part either but I checked and on their website it is written that XGP supports:

WinFast FX 5600 8X

Although mine is XFX nVidia FX5600, it should work.
