ADSL over USB modem wierd bug

i got ALE 070 adsl usb modem, which i connect to via eci drivers.
connection actually works (believe it or not), although it took me a module to compile on the kernel got the bitch running.
But here i got this wierd bug, if i open a consuming program (e.g. streaming radio, xMule) after some time (2 to 15 minutes) my modem stops outputing any data but still inputs, (all tcp packets still waiting for response and unreplied pings get me disced anyway).
however it seems i can download from http for an hour or even more without having this. (wierd)
the support channel of eci driver only said it might be my ohci usb driver but didn't say anything about what it takes to change it to uhci or could this be something else.
i'm on redhat 9 kernel 2.4.20-19.9
so if u got any suggestions or if u can explain about the diference between ohci and uhci (and if possible how to switch) or is this really related to my case.

Code:
[phantom@phntm phantom]$ /sbin/ifconfig ppp0
ppp0 Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol
          inet addr:81.218.170.48 P-t-P:81.218.170.1 Mask:255.255.255.255
UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:38154 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:39474 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:3
          RX bytes:12809520 (12.2 Mb) TX bytes:4046819 (3.8 Mb)
[root@phntm bin]# ./eci-doctor.sh
