and so on..and never connected right... what do u think it could be???
there is probably a way to get some "verbose" output, all I see there is that your ISP drop your connectio, it could be anything, from mistyped password to wrong drivers... I need more details.
Also, can you give more info about the modem? Which mark/company? USB or Ethernet? Exact version?
I can't find your modem on google, are you sure these infos are correct?
Do you have any clue if linux see your modem? These errors messages tell me it does but sometime it can be quite confusing
Sometime, ISP will accept to change your modem to an ethernet one if you tell them you dont have an USB port on your computer (dont tell them you run linux, most ISP will just refuse to help you if you tell them you run something else than Windoze)
Well i have being google aslo...
and what i can figure is that the stupid modem is only sell in my contry, portugal.... dammm
as u can see here http://linux.derkeiler.com/Mailing-L...5-02/5429.html
the modem exists.. but even in www.st.com, i cant find it....
well i will pass the option u gave to my friend.. but the strange thing is that in my PC it is working...
and we whent into all steps that i made in myne... and nothing...dammm
Well will see...
Thz
Apparently the problem have a solution!!!
And the problem should be that in Portugal you have to connect trough PPPoE not PPPoATM.
Please read the following link http://balinhaweb.no.sapo.pt/HowToIceData500.txt that explains really well how to connect this adsl modem.
Thanks pedromon,
But its a little too late that help... my modem and my friends modem its working currently, after long time in shearching internet.

The only problem now with that solution is the kernel, that bring some problems like sound and automont usb.. but that are issues.
