ADSL ethernet modem Trust

Hello,

I'm completely new to linux. I'm using a Trust 445a speedlink ethernet modem. (w w w. trust.com /home/default.htm?viewpage=products/product.htm%3Fartnr%3D13521%26show%3D1). It's used in comibination with a Realtek 8029(AS) network card.

At the moment it doesn't support Linux. The modem uses a conexant chip. Is there a way to get it functionating under Linux Mandrake 9.1 or Red Hat 9?

If it is possible, which drivers (or other stuff) will I need, and which settings are essential to get it work?

If it isn't possible, what is the best I can do? If i need another adsl modem/router, wich one do you advice for both linux and windows usage?

Hopefully someone can help me!?

Moving to Linux - Hardware

Welcome to LQ

From the look of that thing, it just plugs into any Ethernet card. The modem/router should then be self-containing, or OS neutral (however the software used to configure the thing may not be). If the software is ran through a browser (as I've noticed MANY routers are) then you are good to go with any OS you choose.

So the trick will be getting your network card going. I don't know which module your card uses, but a quick google reveals:
ne2k-pci

So try this as root:
modprobe ne2k-pci

And see what comes up. That should be enough to get your started until some hardware nut comes along and feeds you the info to take you the rest of the way

If you need help, get stuck, or simply don't get any responses after a good 12-24 hours or so, feel free to respond back to see if anybody has more input.

Cool
