addtional hardisk sata 250 gb not accesible from fedora core 4
I have installed fedora core and windows xp on 80 gb ide hardisk. recently i added 250 gb sata hardisk . windows xp recognizes the sata hardisk and i was able to create
partitons of 30gb each fat32, but iam not able to
mount the drives (mount /dev/hde1 /mnt/win) from fedora
core 4 . even tried /dev/hdb1 , hdd ,hdf ,hdf etc.
system config is INTEL865DGBF MOTHERBOARD
80 GD IDE PRIMARY
250 GB SATA ON CHANNEL 0
Hi, i have a similiar problem by adding a plain SATA drive to my Linux (Debian etch) system.
Only line in /var/log/messages of scsi (or in my case sata) is:
Jun 16 17:31:22 spooky kernel: SCSI subsystem initialized
However, sata and scsi kernel modules are loaded:
spooky:~# lsmod | grep -e ata -e scsi
sata_nv 19012 0
libata 108756 1 sata_nv
scsi_mod 132236 2 sbp2,libata
There are no scsi devices created by udev under /dev/sda ...
So i have no chance to partition it. Do i need to reboot with special kernel args?
Hi, i tried booting with a live cd (kubuntu) This OS detected the sata drive. It had an additional module sata_sil (which my current os did not had compiled.) I changed the kernel config and added this driver.
