Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Adding PCI card for IEEE1394 to...?

I've been trying to use Kino for my video editing and "finally" realized
that my motherboard doesnt have Firewire support...only USB. Kino is looking for raw1394 module (which is installed...I checked via YAST along with devlop. tools and debug info files)...I get an error message within Kino's Preferences | IEEE tab that says "IEEE1394 not responding".

Of course it isnt, because I dont have Firewire capability within my motherboard. So if I buy an PCI-to-1394 card will Kino work with the files installed?

I don't think anyone can answer this question.
But I purchased 2 PCI Firewire cards (for different PC's), plugged them in and they "just worked" with linux.
So, give it a try
