Adding memory.

I have a question about what happens when you install more RAM into a machine already running Linux. How does something like this affect the swap partition? Do you have to expand it to mirror the inscrease in memory? One of the first thing I read about the swap partion is that is should be twice the memory size.

TIA.

That is only a general rule - It won't really cause you a problem if you have a 256+ swap partition.

Just stick the RAM in and work faster

nothing need be done to linux.
with more ram, there might be less swapping
swap = double ram is an older thumb rule... But, if u have, e.g., 1GB ram, who needs swap?
