Add more harddisk


i have a RH8 box. and it runs quite smooth and i am quite happy with that. now, i want to plug in another new, unformatted harddisk, as a slave. so, what should i do? pls, tell me how should i do. pls, advise.

If you hook it up I am pretty sure that kudzu will detect it when you start the box back up. Are you only using RH and not dual-booting?

After boot-up look in the hardware-browser and see if it's detected.

i am only using RH, no other OS. ok, in my hardware-browser i can see the hd. good! then, how? i have to format it anyway... either to ext2 or ext3. how? and how am i going to use this harddisk? mount it understand a folder? pls revise ASAP. thanks

shutdown the computer
plug the hd and set the jumper
boot
...
create partition table (using cfdisk, diskdruid or fdisk)
format (mke2fs)
mount it (mount /dev/hd** /mnt/newhd_or_whatever)
