I'm trying to getting standby work. I'm on SuSE 9.3 and actually if i suspend_to_ram the system seems to suspends correctly but when I try to wake it up it reboots. If I suspend_to_disk it correctly suspends, power off ; at power on it restores, but the screen graphics (it's a radeon with fglrx ATI drivers) is messed up and then freezes. I really would like to make work at least the first (ram) because on a laptop it is really a must. I usually use kpowersave to suspend but I really don't know what it does to suspend the system. I tried to 'echo "standby" > /sys/power/state' but it says 'file already exists'. What does it means?

What's your laptop and what's your kernel version?

I'ts the one provided with SuSE 9.3: Kernel The laptop is a Targa Visionary XP 2500+

Today I tried to disable the ACPI on boot with acpi=off and use APM instead. It seems to work better(doesn't reset) but it doesn't turn off the fan when sleep and the touchpad (synaptics) doesn't work on wake up anymore.
