Acer Aspire One D270 (Intel GMA3600) Graphic....

Guys, is there any chance that the graphic chip on Intel's Atom N2600 have some sort of working driver... ? Its GMA3600 graphic..

Or at least tell me what distro should i get that will work on netbook from topic title.. I just need it to run smooth, i do not need to run video playback or anything. Seems i must dualboot this netbook with windows to get multimedia working..

Regards.

The GMA3600 is a relabeled PowerVR SGX545, which has abysmal driver support for Linux. Currently the driver only offers basic 2D acceleration, but no 3D or video acceleration. As sad as it is, with this machine you are better off running Windows.

Thanks for answer.. Im planing to use linux for purpose of learning for now, that means mostly terminal and a lot of reading :). Which distro would you recommend on this hardware as it is ?

I don't remember the specs but when I had an AAO, around 2009 or so, I dual booted with Mageia 3 and it ran fairly well for me. It booted up slower then I would have liked but other then that, it ran good. At the time I also installed old Gnome 2. If you're savvy enough, you could install a Debian Netinstall or another distro netinstall and add only what you need!

Go for something that has a somewhat recent version of any distribution you like, so that you get a recent version of the modesetting Xorg driver, this will give you the best results.
A rolling release like Arch or something up to date, like Slackware's -current branch, should do fine, and both have extensive documentation and knowledgeable communities, which will help with your learning effort.
