Accessing files

Hi,

I have 2 computers connected to my LAN. One machine is a win98 and the other is a dual boot win2000 server / Linux machine. If I am logged on to my win98 machine and the Win2000 operating system, how can I get access to files on my Linux operating system if it is offline?

We need a little more info, please redo your story, stating as follows:

system 1 is using 2000, system 2 is using 98(or whatever), this is the situation...I want to accomplish X. How do I achieve this?

We need a more precise description of the problem.

24giovanni, to re-phrase your question, "How do I access my Linux box from Windows? and access my LINUX partition within Windows" You need to install SAMBA or FTP for your Win98 system. You can pick either one. For your Windows 2000 you can use Expore2fs.

SAMBA is a service that complies to MS Windows file sharing standards.

You should know what FTP does already.

williamwbishop, it doesn't matter what filesystem you are using. The only thing that matters is you are running a service that MS Windows understands such as SAMBA. SAMBA does all the translating for MS Windows SMB standards.
