AC97 int. sound slackware 9.0 no sound
I get the welcome tune during X startup, but nothing for CD's or games. I get the following durring boot:
i810: SiS 7012 found at IO 0xd800 and 0xdc00, IRQ 11 i810_audio: Audio Controller supports 2 channels. ac97_codec: AC97 codec, id: 0x434d:0x4941 (Unknown) i810_audio: only 48Khz playback available. i810_audio: AC'97 codec 0 Unable to map surround DAC's (or DAC's not present), total channels = 2 so it's seeing the device but is the (Unknown) codec screwing things up? or am I forgetting to turn the volume up in some conf-file:0) "I did that in SuSe." I've done the /sbin/modprobes for the ac97 and i810 in rc.modules. I am using KDE if this helps. Something really simple I'm sure. Thanks for any suggestions |
The Sis7012 isn't that well supported under 2.4.20, I got scratchy playback for a while, the card worked fine otherwise. I got a little better mileage out of the version in 2.4.21-rc3
