Never ever ever? Or does it go for a while, then after a good 10-15 minutes stop?
I'm guessing it's cron jobs running. These are tasks setup by your distro to run at each startup/hour/day/week/month/year/decade/century/mellenium Well, probably not mellenium
The point is, at specified intervals. If you let the cronjobs finish, sometimes the next time they run it won't be some long. For example, it might be updating the slocate database which allows you to search for files faster.
Thanks for your answer.
At beginning,I think it's cron jobs as you .But,in fact,it have lasted for some days.
The "Hda" of programme "gkrellm" showes "0",but the HD'Led is red all time.What's wrong?
I have a green light that is "always on" as long as the computer is. I believe this light for me is to show me the computer is on. Maybe that's what your redlight is? I am guessing you've ran another OS on this box, and this isn't the case in the other OS?
Do you have a manual for your box describing what the LED's mean?
Haha!
My box has two LEDs:
green LED --> POWER
red LED --> H.D.D
Running WinXP,the green LED is always on.The red LED will be on,if system writes/reads the data on hard driver.
Under redhat,the two LEDs is always on.
Could you please specify what did you do, turning off the power (pulling the plug) didnt seem to work with me. This problem occured after I tweaked with some kernel recompiles. I dont think the kernel does affect the bios.
