Sort of like your other thread about HDMI splitters/cables....did you just try putting "Espon v850 linux" into Google?? The VERY FIRST HIT:
https://epson.com/Support/Scanners/P...SPT_B11B224201
Epson's own website to download a Linux driver.

Short answer - no.
I have a V600 and keep a Win10 laptop merely to do my scanning. Works ok, but still involves work - I have slides from the 70's and 80's I needed to salvage.

Don't know about that one, but I have a Film2USB converter film scanner (purchased off ebay) that works just fine with linux. Can be used with USB to scan to PC or use SD card.
It is manual, and a bit tedious for large jobs, but works for either slides (positive colors) or film (negative colors) by flipping a setting on the scanner.
I recently did a box of about 300 pictures (film negatives) and they came out great. My aunt was very impressed.

morning-tea,
As per TB0ne's post, put V850 in the search box:

Hi,
Thanks for your advice and links.
I'm preferring to a less expensive flatbed scanner because I have some aged photos without negatives
Just found following thread on Internet
The 5 Best Film and Negative Scanners in 2020
http://www.vfxpro.com/best-film-and-negative-scanners/
#4 – Epson Perfection V550 Color Photo, Image, Film, Negative & Document Scanner
I won't scan documents, only film negatives and aged photos
Edit
====
After scanning film negatives on flatbed scanner do I need to split them into their own files, not a file of 4/6 digital photos. If YES please advise how, running screenshot?
Regards

I never got any linux tools to works as I wanted. YMMV.
With the Win10 software, you get a series of sequentially named images per strip - img001.jpg, img002.jpg ... I expect you should get similar. As for prints, you can supposedly do several per run, but it's flaky - I select one per scan to be saved.

There may be some other tools, but I would use gimp and after cropping each image would then save it to its own file.

Thanks
I wonder whether there is scanning method without further work cropping each image?
Can those film negative scanners on the market work?

Yes, the film scanner I mentioned earlier does a single frame at a time and i am certain there are others. It scans film strips or slides, one image at a time.
