aacraid: linux or adaptec better?

I have a machine with the 5805 and the 51645 adaptec raid controllers. I had a kernel panic on the 5805, including a firmware corruption, using the linux-supplied driver. Has anyone got any thoughts on whether it is better to use the linux-included aacraid driver or the adaptec supplied driver?
