Angry a NEW question about intel 810 AC soundcard

http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc...intel8x0#intro

this is the address with instructions to install the drivers for the intel 810 soundcard that so many people have problems with. i've only been *nixing for about 6 months and at first just accepted that i would never have sound with rh8. then i accepted that i secretly hated rh8 for a lot of reasons and with some trial and error got slack9 up and running (finally just in the past week), albeit not perfectly just yet. one problem that i'm having is getting this card to work.

i've gone through the above instructions just as they said I THINK... and i haven't noticed the popup error message about sound after boot since i got it "set up..." but there is still no sound! when i found this i pointed my very linux intelligent friend in its direction because the computer that he never uses has no sound and he needed something to do and it worked for him. but he is 200 miles away and a gentoo user, so slack iisn't really his game.

i've turned up the levels in alsa-mixer as well as every volume control i can find on the gui. nothing. any suggestions?

erik

after talking to my friend about it for a long time it mentioned that some computers with this card only have sound through the headphone jack (instead of speakers). i tried it and it worked and for once i got lucky. i'm sure this will lead to lots more qustions but for now... yes.
