A bit of help understanding SCSI error messages ...

Greetings:

I have scoured for a good explanation of the hardware references in the error message below:

Apr 29 07:34:13 cerebus kernel: Current sd08:11: sense key Recovered Error
Apr 29 07:34:13 cerebus kernel: Additional sense indicates Failure prediction threshold exceeded

I realize that this indicates that there is a problem with one of my SCSI drives, but the specific question I have is this -- what is the 11 after the sd08? I was able to figure out through my searching that the sd08 refers to the SCSI block device, and that the 11 has something to do with which device and partition is involved, but how does one decode this?

Many thanks in advance from a confused semi-newbie!

Michael

If there is no info available thru Google then I suggest you go source code diving, start by searching for the phrase "sense key" and see if you can find where the message is generated then work backwards from there. Lots of luck
