8139too.o wont load.. IRQ error maybe?

I have a Siemens Speedstream 1020 and i have read to use this module for it. Insmod reports there could be an IRQ error. can i tell it to load with a certain IRQ or probe for one? Whats the command to do this?

The IRQ error message is some legacy chatter that really should be removed its so misleading these days. Let's make certain its a realtek chipset. What's the output of: /sbin/lspci with regards to "ethernet controller"?

sorry i cant copy and paste (no network card, no internet. duh) but lspci says its and edimax computing (or sumthin like that). the speedstream 1020 (what i have) is a 8139 based card, like the edimax card. any clues?

Heck, wanna try something silly?

#!/bin/bash
KERNEL=$(uname -r)
cd /lib/modules/$KERNEL/kernel/drivers/net
for all in `ls | cut -d "." -f1`
do
/sbin/modprobe $all
done

That'll just try and load... all of them. We'll what sticks:

ifconfig -a
dmesg | grep eth

Cheers,
