80gb partitions
Hi there i have just bought a 80gb hard disk...
I am going to install
fedora
debian
bsd and
blfs
i also want a partition free for backups.
Do u know how many partitions can i create for my distros?

There's a limit, but it's high. I've got 12 partitions, your scheme will be probably similar.

I believe the limit for an IDE drive is 64 partitions. The most I've had on one PC is also 12.

Let me ask something else .......
Is it possible to create a partition for the home directory....ina such way so it is visible and usable from all the distros?
I think that's a good way for keeping your data across formats

Yes, it is. You just create a partition and mount it as /home in all the distros. One warning: you need to make sure that your user in all the distros has the same number and group number (or have the same /etc, but that's less convenient in most cases).

One /etc partition for all distros. It's possible, but is not recommended (it's easy to mess with your system that way). Keeping user ids in sync is easier.
