802.11 wireless card ?

I am brand new at using Linux. I just installed RH9 on my laptop and am trying to get my Linksys WC11 802.11 card to work.

I understand from Red Hat that this card is not supported. I also understand that there are work arounds to get it to work. I don't believe that I can fugure that out at this pont.

What cards will work "out of the box" with RH 9?

Thanks.

There are 3 driver sets for the card, by far the easiest thing to do is to grab the new hermes.conf patch file from:

http://ozlabs.org/people/dgibson/dldwd/hermes.conf

And add that little text file to: /etc/pcmcia/

Then hard restart pcmcia with:

/etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia restart

And you should get the two beeps of joy. The version that RH shipped with 9.0 is a bit old and doesn't handle WEP well, so over long transfers the card stalls, its solved in newer versions.

If you want to upgrade the driver or need more help configuring the card, post back... or faster really is to just do a search here for "WPC11" and you'll choke on the number of the threads that have covered this littel bugger already.

Cheers,
