8 cores detected on Alienware 15 with i7-4720HQ CPU

Hello everyone

I have recently installed Arch Linux on an Alienware 15. I am currently using the Budgie Destkop.

If i open the Settings Menu and go to Details, the Processor field shows the following:

Processor: Intel Core i7-4720HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz x 8

htop also shows 8 cores, all of them working.

This processor only has 4 cores. That very information can be seen at this website:

http://ark.intel.com/products/78934/...up-to-3_60-GHz

Can this have any negative consequences of any sort? I am mostly worried that this might possibly cause greater hardware strain, causing its lifetime to be reduced.

Here goes the lspci output:

intel parts that support hyperthreading show up as double the cores. its normal. note in the performance section of your link, it mentions 8 threads but 4 cores.
