64 Bit distros won't install - All 32 bit do?

Hoping some one might have an idea. I just put together a new box with an Epox EP-9NPA+ULTRA MB, an AOpen 6600 based PCI-Ex video card and 1 GB (4x256) GEIL PC-400 memory, and an AMD 64 / 3000+ CPU. All my 32 bit distros work fine, but I can not even install Novell Linux 64 (Suse) or Fedora Core 4 /64. Each will freeze the machine during install w/o any error message. Wondering if anyone might point me in right direction... Thanks!

BTW - I used a Hitachi 160 GB SATA drive and then tried a Seagte 120 GB IDE drive, and the problem didn't change. Oddly WinXP64 seems to be happy as a clam... go figure!

You may want to try here with the 2.6.12 image and see if it will install Debian Sarge. Your probably going to want to break out/not install any packages when you get the opportunity too as I doubt the X server will have any support for the video card you have and change the "sarge" to "testing" in the /etc/apt/sources.list then update and install the Xorg server + desktop of choice.
