how do i configure this in slackware 11. i have 5 speakers and only two of them is producing sound. want to configure that way i get all of them. also how do i configure my webcam.
When I had a 5.1 system I found that if I adjusted some of the extra volume settings in alsamixer, I would actually make some of my speakers stop working. You might try muting all of the extra speakers and one-by-one turning them up. Just a crazy suggestion but it might help...
What sound card do you have?

Was there any sort of modification done to the file. i added it to the .asoundrc file i created in the home directory and it just disable my sound. i get a message saying my sound driver is not configure when i start X.
i'm having the same issue. as soon as i put the info in .asoundrc, my sound stops working and i either get a message saying my sound server has shut down or my sound apps just error out.
