4th Generation iPod Nano support
I am wondering if anyone has tried the 4th Generation iPod Nano under Linux yet. I don't want to buy one and have it not supported yet. I am very short on cash and do not really have the know how to work on support if I were to get one.

Apple products are nasty malware - why not use a media player which respects your rights? Or, at least, one that can be liberated?

When I added the Nano to gtkpod I chose it was 3rd gen Nano. I removed the songs I added in Windows and tried to add new ones, but couldn't because gtkpod said it's full when I clicked the Save changes button. Then I chose Check iPods files -option and it found all the songs again. Removed them again and this time it worked. I could successfully add the songs to the Nano, didn't try pics or videos. I did try to include cover art, and it worked partially. When I play a song, the cover is not shown. When I tilt the device, the Cover Flow functionality appears and in that view all the covers are visible. The covers should be rolling on the bottom of the screen in the main menu, but there I can see only some distorted images, and then for some reason it starts to show the icons from the three preinstalled games. So, the main function, i.e. adding and deleting songs, works with libgpod (which is used afaik all linux apps handling iPods) with the 4th generation Nano. |
