4G Dongle for Linux

Hi,
I'm trying to install a 4g dongle on a cyberoam CR25ie UTM security firwall. I've tried an Alcatel L800 from EE and a Huawei E392 from Three. Both work on a standard laptop but niether work on the firewall as its Linux. After several hours with the Cyberoam technicians remoted on to the system we then concluded that the issue was the dongles not supporting Linux. Can anyone tell me a make of 4G dongle that supports Linux? Lots of 3G dongles do but I cannot find a 4G dongle that does?
thanks,

Arn George

They pretty much ALL work fine on Linux. You don't say what version/distro of Linux you're using, but if you search on this site (or Google), you'll find MANY links that tell you to use the "usb_modeswitch" program for most of those dongles.

The device ships as a CD-ROM/USB storage device....NOT a modem. That's to make installing the Windows software easy....that same Windows software accesses the device as a modem. usb_modeswitch will 'flip' the device into modem-mode on Linux, and from there you can use whatever network manager you want (GUI network manager, wvdial, PPP, etc.), to make your connection. Again, without knowing what version/distro of Linux or what desktop GUI you're using, we can't be specific.

I notice the same problem for the moment. OS is UBUNTU 12.04(.3) server, usb modem E392 HUAWEI. I want to use the modem together with the wvdial application, however ttyUSBx are missing.
Anyone an idea how to solve that?

Sorry, but I read your feedback very well. I tried already a lot of proposistions what I saw on google but it doesn't help.
I've 3 PC's, same HW (PC and modem), same SW and packages installed. AT 1 PC is works without any problem, at the other 2 it will not work.
I've really no idea anymore why. I will still have some investigations this weekend, if no solution find, maybe I'll try to take an image of the working one to try out on another one afterwards.

Saying "it doesn't help", provides no details. And again, if you want it to work, you type in "usb_modeswitch", after installing the program. Doesn't get much simpler than that.

Then one one PC you've got that package installed, or have done SOMETHING. There are very obviously SOME differences between them.
