3d graphics not recognized using OpenSuse 10.3 on Dell Inspiron 531

I have a new Dell Inspiron 531,Athlon 64 X2 5000+ with GeForce 6600 Gt video card installed. I installed OpenSuse 10.3 and was surprised to find out that it did not recognize the 3d graphics options on my card (this also was the case with the onboard GeForce graphics). I downloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia and while the 2d graphics seem to improve, the 3d graphics were still not available. I really want to use fglrx and xgl, but cannot figure this one out. I looked on the OpenSuse forum at OpenSuse.org, but was unable to find an answer. Any Ideas ? Should I try another distro ?

Thanks

PS Sorry for cross posting with Newbie group, but it seems this is better place to look for an answer

Start Sax2 and check the graphic card settings. IIRC there is a check box to enable 3d.
