I have just installed Mandrake 9.1 on a new PC with an Asus A7N8X Delux motherboard. The machine is dual boot with Windows 2K, and I use the upper network port, which is the 3Com 3C902B NIC. Under Windows, the port works fine. Under Linux, however, I cannot even bring up the interface. The 'ifconfig' command shows only the loopback interface, and if I attempt to bring up the 3Com as 'eth0', which is the way it configured itself at install time, I get a 'device not found' error. If I use 'init.d/network restart', it reports it is bringing it up, does nothing for about 30 seconds, exits without error, and the interface is still not up.

I note that there are several other threads related to this, but all of them seemed to have gotten farther along.

I would very much appreciate some assistance.
