3COM Driver - 3c940/3c2000 & SATA Harddrives

Hey i have a p4p800 motherboard from Asus...
the drivers off the website don't compile under suse 8.2
anybody know of a precompiled version for kernel: 2.4.20?
Anybody know of a different driver available?

SATA:
I have a seagate ST3120023AS harddrive.
Is there a kernel that supports SATA for this disk?
Or a module?

Thanks

I have files at
http://www.avansys.co.uk/filez/drivers/SuSE-ft3xx1.zip for the promise fastrak controller
and
http://www.avansys.co.uk/filez/drivers/3c2000.tar.gz
for the Lom drivers.

Both are for SuSE Linux 8.2 Kernel version 2.4.20
However these are a bit old now, and whilst they work for me, you may want to check on whether there are any more up to date ones.

I don't know that you need anything special for SATA drives, just as long as you have turned on the SATA interface in BIOS.

If you have it selected as Parallel only it will not work.
I believe the default is Parallel + SATA so if you haven't changed it it should be ok.

I think i need a special kernel for the SATA...
b/c when i try to install 8.2 on my SATA drive
it comes back with hdb: attached ide-disk driver
and stalls on the install.

those links don't work :/
it comes up with cannot find page...
i can get to http://www.avansys.co.uk
though...

thanks Thema
