3-head video with Nvidia or ATI cards, possible?
For about a month now, I've been trying to think of the best way to implement 3-head video on my workstation. My first idea was to use a Matrox Parhelia video card, but the Linux drivers for it are terrible, so it's out of the question. I need 3D acceleration, so 2D-only PCI multihead cards won't do. What I'm thinking of now is getting two Nvidia or ATI cards, one two-head AGP and one single-head PCI.
Now, there are 2 things I need to know before I try anything, and I'm wondering if anyone here can share some insight:
1. Does the ATI driver support multiple cards?
2. Do either the ATI or Nvidia drivers support Xinerama or any other method of connecting the displays across cards?
