2wire 802.11b/g wireless adapter on Ubuntu7.04
Ubuntu will not see the wireless adapter in Device Manager. If I open a terminal window and use lspci, lsusb, dmesg, iwconfig and so forth, the usb controller is seen as Intel but the wireless adapter card is not listed. I have tried to get a Linux driver but doesn't write for Linux and refuses to tell me what chipset they use on their 802.11 b/g model that they supply to
SBCglobal. I have learned the chipset is by Conexant. I can dual boot into winXP and get the driver which is Prismsvr and there is a win32 alternate driver which is WlanUIG.sys
The wireless adapter works fine in XP and I know I could try ndiswrapper
using the XP adapters but a native linux driver may be available and better. So,
what is the chipset for this adapter?
is there a driver to deal with said chipset?
is anyone reverse engineering this 2wire product as they seem Linux-hostile?
I am on a Dellc610 Laptop and all else works well on the dual boot.
Thx in advance.

There is some choices as far as USB nic support. Now currently Atheros madwifi only supports pci/pcmcia type cards. I have seen some atheros based USB but madwifi does not support USB ones at this time. Next some conexant may work but still require the windows driver to be used a special way. Nexer used one so not sure on the facts. Just things I have read. Prism54 does support some USB as well using the ISL38xx chipset for the most part. It is a Softmac type chipset. Only have used real prism54 chipset with firmware file.

Check this link for info.

I have just sen a post that mentions ralink USB nics work out of the box since ralink modules exist in the kernel tree according to this post.

Ubuntu 7.10 Upgrade - Wireless issue
I certainly have the impression I'm not Robinson Crusoe with this problem.

Since upgrading from Ubuntu 7.04 to 7.10 I have no internet! A pity since everything was working so well beforehand.

I'd be interested in finding out how to resolve my Linksys WUSB54G/4 problem. It looks as though a connection is established, but in both Roaming and Manual setups but there is no action.
