DAMN. WHAT ELSE? The mobo i have is P5N E SLI (Asus bought in 2007, 0401 BIOS)

Now I have another issue. My mouse/keyboard freezes immediately at login window and the only option is to reset or POWER OFF.

I have a Logitech optical mouse/keyboard and a 2nd USB mouse. Both work fine in my laptop. Batteries just changed. I tried several times
to plug/unplug, boot/reboot, but nothing happened. If I continuously move the mouse during OS load, I can see for a few sec (3-5) the pointer
moving. But immediately freezes. All USB options from Advanced in BIOS are enabled. Thanks!

Red face

P5N E SLI is ready for Linux and 2.4 Kernel or later.

If I reboot with no mouse/keyboard plugged, BIOS lets me know. > plug in mouse/keyboard>DEL>BIOS>F10>load Ubuntu>
move mouse and keyboard arrows during boot >login comes up: mouse and keyboard freeze after 2 sec.

I can see the keyboard is functional too because it changes the user but immediately freezes.
I won't update BIOS, I don't think this will solve anything.

I apologize but I don't know anything about SATA controller. I have some RAID options... I don't see anything
about SATA controller in the manual. Maybe I am missing a line. (?)
Anyhow - this new issue upsets me more now. Is still my mobo?
Can I do something to see grub load info? How? thanks a lot.

UPDATE
Well, I tried it last time for today and it worked. BUT I logged on a different account and I got this message:

Quote:
! The panel encountered a problem while loading: "OAFIID:GNOME_Panel_TrashApplet"
Do you want to delete applet from your config?
I chose not to, since I don't know what this is. I read some posts and it looks like a bug that comes and goes, waiting to be fixed.

Will continue posting with my new happenings. I gave up SATA for now. Will try and learn more BIOS but...still cannot see anything regarding
more SATA options. Will continue look in this one too.

Talking Recognizing SATA HDD

It's been 3 months or so since my last post. I did not purchase a new PS. I did check all my connections step by step and nothing was bad. My last resort was to reinstall the OS. But this time I also created a new OS image at a very low speed.
I was not surprised to see that the installation went on WITH NO PROBLEMS (At the very beginning the 1st 2 attempts couldn't install bootloader. I fixed that issue from Ubuntu help website). Now, after the clean installation, everything was recognized and works good for months. Many thanks for your ideas.
