2nd hard Drive
 

Hi

I have what I feel is a peculiar problem. I am running Win98 and Suse 9.2 on a 80Gb HD. I have installed another HD and installed Promepis on it. This is the first time I have looked at another distro since starting with Suse 6.4.

Originally I made space on my existing drive to do this but it trashed my Suse install by overwriting the existing MBR and initrd. So everything relating to Promepis is on the other drive. I had anticipated accessing the files through Suse to make a boot floppy so that I could boot into Promepis when I wanted to. But here's the problem.

Suse does not see the drive or the files on it. Now having said that it not really true because
Hardware Info shows the drive, dmesg shows it installing as hdb1, hdb2 and hdb3. I have entered the appropriate line in fstab but I get an error message. Incidentally, can anyoone explain why Konqueror should show a partition dev/hda4 as (dev/hda4) (1). What's the purpose of the (1)?

Anyway heres hoping somebody can shed some light.

please tell us what the mounting errors actaully ARE. also run "fdisk -l /dev/hdb" and post the output.
