2: Digital input cannot display this video mode optimum resolution 1280x 1024 60HZ

Hello All,

Problem:

I am currently in the Process of installing Redhat 4.0 ES on my Dell Work Station. I am currently using a Dual Monitor Display. The Dell Monitors are:

256MB ATI RADEON X600 with a Color Quality of 32Bit and a Screen Resolution thats currently set too 1280 by 1024. Both Monitors share the exact same settings.

During the installation of Redhat 4.0 I got pass the initial Splash Page that displays Correctly, but then I soon get the error message:

ERROR:

2: Digital input cannot display this video mode optimum Resolution 1280x 1024 60HZ

which displays in a Black Screen. At this point I cannot do anything other than restart the Machine.

What has been done:

I did some searching online, and I found a few URLs, which indicate that this is a Bug with Dell Monitors not sending a Refresh Signal. The monitors work fine with Windows but it seems they dont fair well with Redhat. I have tried lowering the resolution, and even Powering the Monitor off for 15-30 seconds and powering it back on, to see if that resolves it. No luck with either option:-(

I also think manually setting the resolution in a Config file may be the way to go, but not 100% sure how too proceed. Please provide assistance as I would like to get Redhat up and running ASAP.....

Thanks for the Reply Mate. I am installing Redhat 4.0 as its the only Redhat OS that I currently have, and is supported with the Software that I will need to test. Exact Ver, and Kernel info:

cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.6.9-34.EL (bhcompile@hs20-bc1-7.build.redhat.com) (gcc version 3.4.5 20051201 (Red Hat 3.4.5-2)) #1 Fri Feb 24 16:44:51 EST 2006
