2 4-pin sockets on TV card which do I use for sound?

Have latency problem with tv - sound lags vision. So thought I might be able to fix this by wiring TV-card (Peak) to sound card (C-Media 7.1 USB plug 'n play) directly with one of those 4-pin wires that goes from the CDROM drive to the sound card.

However the TV card has two, identical 4-pin plugs right next to each other. So, hope this not silly question, why two? What are they for? Am I likely to fry anything if plug into wrong one?

Check with the manufacturer about the two 4 pin connectors. Mono audio needs only two connectors. Stereo audio needs only three connectors. The fourth could be power, and mixing up a power connector can fry something, so be careful. If you have a meter, you can check to see if one is power, but that can be harmful if you do not know what you are doing. I think that it might be for input from another sound device such as a cdrom? If you are gutsy, just plug it in and see if it works. The 4 pin connector for the sound is usually pinned so that it only goes in one way. If that is the case, you are less likely to misconnect it, unless you force it in.

Thanks. Did plug it in with a very very old CD 4-pin cable I had. It did fit only one way round. Although it had four holes only 3 wires came out - so it sounds like your stereo.

Nasty do when the front channels went dead, but fixed this and it seemed to be unrelated.

The problem is now that it has made not the slightest difference. I'm wondering how to enable it, if such is possible???? Seem to remember that if doing this between a CDROM drive and a sound card you had to configure whether you wanted analog (along the cable) or digital (through the CPU).
