Hello all, currently I have a machine with windows XP and bought a 160gb drive. Apparently I have to upgrade to SP1 if I want to access anything above 127GB. SP1 includes lots of spyware and other crap I refuse to install.
Which Linux Distro can support ALL of a 160GB drive? Which Kernel version?
I've heard that you'll need a kernel 2.5.3 or newer to handle hard drives over 137gb - I'm not sure which distro if any ship with this as standard at the moment - you can get hold of newer kernels though.
Good man, bluceree. I had no idea about this, and I was about to start a fileserver under linux with a 160 gig disk...
Skyline, anyone... Is there a 2.5 kernel that's more stable than others? I don't plan on doing anything strenuous, is there any way I could install 2.5.3 without putting my head through my monitor?
please note, I installed good 'ole mandrake 9.1 and it recognized my 160gb drive as 152gb formatted with EXT3. So, atleast that one worked ok, I'll be trying it on Mandrake 9.2B1 later this weekend.
